Well isn't this just so cool!? I love writing and I love you guys- so this blog just makes me all kinds of happy and excited!! So kick back, grab your fave cup o' joe (or iced joe as I prefer), and enjoy this new Captivating blogging journey!

So lately I have had this CRAZY obsession with the ocean.
I've always loved the beach (I mean who doesn't!?), but for some reason I just love the actual ocean. The water. Something about it is just so powerful to me!
Maybe it's because all of my favorite songs have to do with the ocean (for example: You Make Me Brave" by Bethel Music , Oceans (Where Feet May Fail) by Hillsong United, and Shores by Bryan & Katie Torwalt.)
It could also be because it is so beautiful and brings pretty much everyone some sort of joy.
Or maybe, just maybe, it's because I think it'd be super cool to be a mermaid.
Either way, I'm obsessed.
Picture it. There you are, standing in the soft sand, looking out into the midst of the sea. The blue water rises and falls, the tide comes in and your happy little toes get splashed. You soak in the sweet smell of salt water and make eye contact with the horizon. Your hair starts to blow in the wind and you take a step forward. Oh but the horizon seems so far away! What will happen as I keep moving forward?
Life is a lot like that ya know. We find ourselves at the shore, looking out into the sea. Not knowing what exactly will happen if we take that next step. Will we drown? Will we rise above the waters?
 It can be crippling.
Not knowing what to expect next can often lead to us never experiencing anything at all because we choose to stay at the shore where we know it's safe. We find it so hard to extend our foot and walk forward because we know there is no turning back.
This is where the power comes in.
Referring back to the song Oceans, we hear "You call me out upon the waters. The great unknown where feet may fail..." (Fail. Thats the scary part.)
But then, we hear "And I will call upon Your name. And keep my eyes above the waves. When oceans rise, my soul will rest in Your embrace. For I am Yours and You are mine."
Powerful isn't it?
The fact that we are called upon the waters. Into the unknown. The unseen. It's incredible.
Why? Because our God says that he will never leave us nor forsake us. For we are HIS! He calls us out because we then have no other option but to call on Him- to hold on to faith, keep our eyes above the waves, and grip His hand so tightly as He leads us to the horizon.
It's trust. It's confidence in knowing that our heavenly Father has GREAT plans for us. It's being that brave, courageous woman of God we were created to be- stepping beyond the shore and into the water. Knowing full well that our God is right there beside us.
And when we choose to be obedient and say to God "Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders. Let me walk upon the waters, wherever You would call me. Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander!!!" oh the mighty thing's He'll do.

xoxo,
Rosa
